  1. Painted up a batch of communication stones, so needed to take some glamor photos. These are color shifting, and will go from black, to blue, to purple depending on the light.
  2. Good information. For Stargate costuming the IDs used on the show are fictional.
  3. Are you talking about Gateway in Chicago June 26-28? If so you won't be able to carry replica firearms very much, as the hotel does not allow them to be in the common areas. If it's a different convention then your first step will be to check their website or contact them to find out their policy on replica firearms. Some organizers are allowing them under certain conditions, and others are banning them. In general your options are 1) airsoft/replica guns or 2) building from scratch. Most people just buy airsoft replicas as there are plenty of very realistic ones available (in fact these were even used for filming throughout parts of the SG shows). With that said, some people in countries with tight restrictions on replicas have had good results cutting out eva foam and making their own. If you're looking for a good "best of both worlds" approach then I can hook you up with a foam P90 molded and cast off the real thing. They will be for sale on Stitchsloft.com when they are ready. Also check out the weapon archives on SG1Props.com for more options.
  4. That's pretty much it, yes. The battery box that holds the 9v would have two wires going into it from the light. Cut those wires, discard the 9v battery box, and attach the two wires from the coin cell battery box. Here's an example of a 6v coin cell holder. To make a 9v it might be necessary to modify one.
  5. You would want to replace the 9V battery with 3x 3V button cells run together in series. Would still result in 9V but would be much easier to hide in the prop.
  6. The top picture is from the PropWorx auctions, and is one of the original props. I can answer some questions for you in a few weeks when I get a delivery of Atlantis props in the shop.
  7. You did a nice job painting that. I have a couple screen used ones, but not with a removable head like yours.
  8. That is Brian Capri who makes foam zats which can be stretched to an open or closed position. He sells them on ebay (here's the listing). Good guy, makes nice stuff. The electronic working zat on youtube is my prototype. I have the original master shells, studio molds, and other production materials that were used to make the working zats for the show. I'll make them available if I can get passed some logistical hurdles.
  9. Hey I know the guy in that video! You'll have to do videos for all those new props I was showing you that are in the pipeline ...
  10. Man... that's a lot of variants. From a storytelling perspective one has to ask the question: For an expedition stranded in another galaxy with limited resources, who the heck was sitting around the city designing and manufacturing new uniforms all the time?
  11. Any indication why this was done? I wonder how many different patterns were made for all of these variants? I only picked up one gravity suit when they were auctioned off, and regretted it since. Spent years looking for the rest of the ISO track suits and fightsuits, and finally got them. Let me know if you still want a flightsuit and I can hook you up.
  12. Hey nice work! Not sure if mine strayed from the standard template, but mine doesn't have pocked and the collar is integrated into the cut as one piece. I always figured they made these a little sleeker for the girls. Well spotted on the Defying Gravity pieces. Didn't think anyone would notice those. Those suits are so nice. Great production quality.
  13. Especially a shame for a sci-fi show that really didn't have too many standard gadgets for the offworld teams. It's strange considering they always showed an IDC being received at Stargate Command, so the teams obviously still carried them.
  14. An Arduino Mini does fit. One idea I had was to replace the static display with an LCD so that the iris code can be keyed in. Here are the lights and USB in action.
  15. Thanks for the dedicated topic for GDO chat. Let's talk GDOs. The GDO is not just the bomb like I said before, it's also a puzzle! Trivia: The first GDOs made for the show were milled from aluminum, had working lights, and would be used closeups. One of these was then molded to make the rubber GDOs for regular scenes. (That same mold was then used for what you see in these pictures.)
  16. So who's going? Sound off! I know that @SG Merc and @StitchsLoft will be there, along with ... Michael Shanks Amanda Tapping Joe Flanigan Tori Higginson Paul McGillion Gary Jones Tony Amendola Connor Trinneer Cliff Simon Dan Payne Alex Zahara June 21-23 at the Westin O’Hare Hotel.
  17. Recently picked up Nicole de Boer's costume from Stargate Atlantis. This is from the all female unit in the episode Whispers. Great condition, with original mission patch and US flag. Jacket, tank top, and pants are all custom made, no BDUs. Very simple cut, but much more unique in my opinion than a set of black BDUs. As an aside, I have been looking for Major Teldy's uniform for years if anyone has it (or any of the others from this episode) let me know.
  18. It's a good way to jazz up an ordinary frame. I made a 4x6 frame some 15 years ago using a cheap acrylic self standing frame. The frame is broken, but I the blocks held up nicely.
  19. Good point. It's a lot like the SF costumes in that it's easy to replicate from off the shelf pieces, but not distinctly Stargate.
  20. Just wanted to chime in and clarify that these photos are from Moebius Part 2. The non-standard uniform, lack of unit patches, and the variant MP5 (different scope, magazine, and lower receiver configuration) [actually this MP5 configuration was previously used by O'Neill earlier in the same season in the episode Gemini] can be attributed to this being the alternate realty version of O'Neill (where there was no Stargate Command). So technically not an SG unit uniform?
